FAQS

What others have wondered about counseling after a Death or Loss.

  • You click the link I send you and connect to your online therapy room with me weekly. We’ll check and see how you are doing since our last session. This is your time, and you can start with whatever is on your mind. You’re in the driver’s seat in therapy, and I’m here to help guide you along.

Once the goals are set, therapy will be a mixture of us talking, reflecting, and challenging our current thinking patterns and relationships. At the end of the session, we’ll identify key takeaways, actionable steps to take, and possible homework.

  • The length of therapy really depends on what you’re working on and your motivation for change. You decide how long you need to be in therapy. Once you feel better, your quality of life starts to improve, and your day-to-day life improves, we can talk about decreasing sessions.

You graduate from therapy when you feel like you’re goals that we set in the beginning are met. I will check in with you about your progress and how things are going for you on a regular basis.

  • After our first initial intake session, I recommend weekly sessions for the first 1-3 months. This allows us to build trust and familiarize you with the therapy process.

We might meet weekly for a couple of months. Depending on what you’re working on, you’ll feel better, and we’ll decrease sessions to every other week and then monthly.

  • You can e-mail or give me a call to schedule your free consultation. The free consultation is to see if we’re a good match for the work you want to do. After that, we will schedule an intake session.

The first session is for us to get to know each other and ask questions about your history and what brought you to therapy. Together, we’ll identify the goals you want to work on.
