One Step at a Time: Embrace All of Who You Are!

Working through your anxiety is reclaiming yourself one piece at a time.

Sometimes we have this fantasy that if we connect with the highest values in our soul, we will live in a fairytale cottage surrounded by plants and flowers. For some, that might be a factual reality. But for most women, and in our culture, that’s not what ultimate change looks like.

Some of my clients can say no at work, with close friends and family members. Some women set boundaries in their family life that enable them to have a weekend off, relax with some friends, or do a hobby that enlivens them. For some women, having a challenging conversation with supervisors and bosses about cutting down sometimes, re-figuring out the best efficiency at work so you can spend more time at home with your family for your kids or on your passion projects.

The change process

Whatever you need to reclaim is doable. My clients often come into the door frustrated, rightfully so, and want this change right away. However, the process is like putting together a mosaic. When my clients cannot embrace parts of themselves, they discard pieces (joy, resting, playing, etc.) in the desert. My clients push the parts they cannot accept way down into the basement subconscious area. You are not alone; many women have pushed things down into the unconscious basement areas. I’m going to be bold to say that many people in our culture have done that. And there is hope! Together with my clients, we journey to find those pieces with some cement or glue. The client puts the pieces back together again in a beautiful arrangement that works for her. At the end of therapy, many of my clients have created a beautiful mosaic of all the pieces that seemed broken. However, she re-arranged them according to her desires and values.

Letting go and embracing who you are!

I can help you re-arrange your beautiful pieces into something that fits you, your life, and your values. The therapeutic relationship is like the metaphorical glue where you feel supported and enable you to venture into those parts that all talk and retrieve the essential things you need to feel filled and start highlighting those pieces and bringing them into your life.

Soul Glue Reflection:

What pieces are needing to re-arrange in your life?

Let’s piece back together your life!

Sincerely,
